Mayor Catherine Pugh on Wednesday touted a drop in crime to start the year, largely crediting her violence reduction initiative, while saying there was still more work to do.
Pugh, speaking at her weekly press conference, said that between Jan. 1 and Feb. 13, there had been a 35 percent drop in homicides across the city compared to the same time period last year. The mayor also said that between Jan. 1 and Feb. 10, all types of violent crime were down 30 percent year-over-year.
